Goal Setting
How, When, and Where are None of Our Business
When we set out to achieve goals sometimes we worry about how and when it will happen. The how and when is none of our business, that business is for the Universe. This business is ours:
1. Be crystal clear and unwavering.
Pick a goal and stick with it. Give no thought and energy to vacillating. We wouldn’t order a pair of size 8 shoes and then say, “Maybe I want a size 11? No, I think I want a size 9?” Let’s make up our minds. We are allowed, of course, to change our minds anytime we decide we want something else. However, truly achieving a goal takes an obsessive, compulsive focus. Consistency is key. When we vacillate back and forth, we weaken the momentum of the energy behind what we have asked for.
“The combination of strong desire for what is coming and avid, compulsive practiced appreciation for what is will leave you in a place of living happily ever after forever more.” – Abraham Hicks
2. Visualize from the heart center.
The mind is dual in nature (positive/ negative, good/ bad). If we use our limited minds to visualize our goals, we will not only manifest our desires, but its polar opposite. We can avoid this by visualizing from our heart center.
3. See the end result.
Once we have visualized (imagined) our new life from our heart chakra, we must see and FEEL our goals already done. Focus on the end result. For instance, if we want a new home, instead of visualizing money to buy the home, visualize owning and enjoying it. Focus on how having the home makes us FEEL. Focus on specific details, such as, what the bathroom tile looks like. Imagine what’s in the garden. The more we convince ourselves that the thing we desire already exists in our lives, the faster appears in our reality.
4. Take Divinely inspired action.
Take action when inspired, not from our ego, but from a higher place. The feeling in our body/emotions and heart will tell us if the action is truly for our highest, best good. If we get a bad or weird feeling (less than good), we know it’s not the right action to take. If we feel good in our body and in our heart chakra, we know it is divinely inspired action.
5. Appreciate progress.
Any progress we see toward the fruition of our goal needs to be recognized and appreciated.
Our Good Can Come In Infinite Ways
There was once a funeral for an old man. A young woman was walking the grounds of the church feeling sorry for herself when she came upon the funeral. Out of curiosity, she decided to enter and signed her name in the guest book. She sat in the front waiting for someone else to show up but no one ever did. She was the only in attendance. A few weeks later someone came to her door announcing that she had inherited a great deal of money. As it turned out, the old man who died had no relatives. He instructed that his estate be given to the first person who signed the guest book.
Back when I still had social profiles, I had a budget for designing them. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get it all done. I let go of worrying about it and trusted the Universe to provide a way. Then out of the blue, a friend offered to help. You never know where, when or how your good comes to you.
Accept, Allow, Receive
The key is, after we have followed the five steps, to get out of the way and allow things to happen. We must accept and allow our good in order to receive it. Does a fruit tree worry how or when it will bear fruit? The how, when, and where are none of our concern. Our job is to get clear on what we want, visualize it from our heart center, focus on the end result, and live in a state of appreciation (feeling good). Let go of the how, where, and when because it’s none of our business.
